New member and looking at buying 1st DC. Used 35mm
SLR for years. Looking at DX6490 and impressed and reviews are good etc. What could I expect to pay in Canada for this unit? Thanks |
Where are you living here,,,i`m in New Brunswick,,,,i can buy it today for 499 canadian,,you should be able to get better,,,this is full retail at Carsands Mosher....Paul (Cold Snail),,,,say`s e-bay is a little cheaper,,,but the shipping will eat all the savings up,,,and will probably cost you more in the long run......

CAn you order from Dell Computers? They had a special 399.00 with ten percent off and free shipping, I do not know if it is still on the webpage. Go to www.dell.com. Byron

I could be wrong,,but doesn`t Dell ship from the U.S.......
The duty on this item would be well over the savings if it has to go through customs....And the 399 is U.S. funds,,,,,not Canadian Brian |
Thanks for feedback guys.
Dell USA won't allow a Cdn. address to register and buy from their site as far as I can figure out ( I tried). Brian, you mentioned Carsands Mosher? What is that? Couldn't get a hit on them in the yellow pages. When you quoted $499 cdn did that include the docking station? Thanks don |
Here's the official starting point.
http://wwwcaen.kodak.com/CA/en/consu...equestid=70302 I'm so confused with these sites as they seem to link into the US and your dollars are different. BTW what's the deal with customs, here in the UK it's 17.5%but it's still cheaper to buy abroad and risk customs. |
Carsands is a photo shop,,,small chain,,,here in Moncton,,,do not see them mention the dock though,,,,phone # here is 506-854-4222,,,may be worth the call...
I got mine off e-bay,,,great seller,,,,lives in Ontario....cyrus0027 is his e-bay name i think... Brian |
Customs here gets your for the 15%,,,,but a lot of the time they charge you a large amount of fees,,,this DC is not that much cheaper in the U.S. to make up for the add ons you must pay,,,in the U.K. though,,,,everything is at a premium compared to us for some reason,,,,,so the tariffs and fees are probably worth worth the trouble,,,plus you must make sure the warranty is valid in Canada...

Because it's a bloody rip-off over here......... 83 pence for aLITRE of fuel for starters ($2.05 Canadian/ $1.53 US) |
yeah,,,it`s close to a dollar a liter here,,,getting high,,,,it`s getting to the point where some will not be able to afford to drive anymore,,,like the old days when my father grew up,,,it was a real luxury to be able to drive,,,,,it`s going back to that,,,,it will be a luxury,,,if you can`t afford it you will have to take the bus,,,shame,,,,but what do you do,,,,,insurance for the younger kids i`ve seen is high,,,friend at work,,,about 20 years old,,,,,,is paying arround 3000 dollars a year,,,for one old 95 civic,,,can`t imagine working for a small wage,,,making a car payment,,,insurance payment,,,gas each month,,,,,,,,and still being able to survive........
