When the m873 is in idle mode, it makes a feint ticking sound (like an old harddrive). Is this normal?

Can someone reply. I need to know if the camera is defective

You'd be more likely to get a response asking this question in our Kodak forum. So, I've moved this thread there for you.

Some cameras have a Continuous Autofocus feature that you can turn on or off that can cause noises like that. Some also have an orientation sensor that can cause ticking noises when the camera is moved.

I don't know about your M873. But, perhaps one of our members with that model will see this thread and reply.

Thanks. I turned a feature called Af control (still) from continous AF to SIngle AF, and it seem's like the ticking is gone.

Thank's for the reply

The ticking now only start's again whilst taking pictures. However it's a whole lot better than the constent ticking compared to before
