I read yesterday (16 December) that Consumer Reports Magazine has selected the Kodak Z-1012 as the low light level camera of the year. So of course I had to do some experimenting.
If you select High ISO on the Z-1012's Mode Selector rather good photos can be taken inside a room illuminated with just a lamp. Here is my "experiment photo." The Z-1012, when placed in the High ISO mode (it is actually a little up arrow in front of the word, ISO) will automatically increase the ISO to 1600, and for this photo the aperture was F 2.8 and the shutter speed 1/30th of a second.
When that particular mode is selected on the Z-1012's Model Selector, a different noise reduction algorythm is used that does not result in either that well know water color effect, or a huge amount of electronic noise. The result is amazing. Just take a look at the attached photo.
