Hi guys ! This question is for everyone who has ever used a Z1012.
When I turn on my camera and is on any shooting mode ( stills or video ) , I hear some soft gyrating / movment noises inside the camera ? even when i'm not adjusting the zoom ! Could this be a normal phenomenon ; like image stabilization ? PS - I'm using the "unrecommended" Ni-MH batteries , would that have anything to do with it ? |

Rechargeable batteries loose their voltage very quickly when used in the Z-1012. That is the reason they are not recommended. As the battery voltage falls the IS get weaker and noiser.
You can get a generic KLIC-8000 battery and charger on www.ebay.com. Please see the attached photo. If something fails and you are using rechargeables, it becomes questionable that Kodak will honor the warranty. Sarah Joyce |

You may have 'Continuous autofocus' switched on, and you may well need it for video. Try switching to 'Single' autofocus for stills, and it'll just activate when you half-press the shutter release. It may also be adjusting the aperture cotinuously according to subject brightness, in its automatic modes. I just tried that onmine, and it twittered gently to itself as Ipointed it around the room.
It doesn't bother me, as I'm usually in P or A mode. If you get away for long with your Ni-MH cells, please let me know! |
