When I upgraded to 1.03 it was easy, and I have the v1.06 file all ready to go. The instructions say you must create a 'System' folder on the card. You must"Run..." the downloaded ".exe" file to create a ".pak" file on your computer which you copy to the 'System' folder on the card. I just transferred it to a card without difficulty. However, I see no need to upgrade to 1.06. The camera's working fine. I doubt I'll need to work at over 95degF. I already have the focal length (zoom level) I used for each shot in 'review' mode, so v1.06 offers nothing new to me. If you succeed, let me know if there's any difference, please! Good luck! |

Thanks Alan,I had hoped you'd reply as it was your review of the 712 that caused me to acquire one. No,I didn't convert the file which is probably precisely where my issue lies. I'm EXTREMELY camera illiterate which is why I enjoy this camera so much. Not much better with computers. I like the 712 and am getting better with it everyday. I'm following the battery thread closely as I feel that is the next area of concern.I've got a full set of NIMH rechargables along with a couple throwaway lithium batteries.Mines 1.03 already so if there isn't any big changes in 1.06 I can hold off. Thanks,T.C.
