Anyone aware of this? Looks pretty interesting in light of them dropping the Z980.

Hi, Gary-
Yes, I am told that in view of the fact that sales of the previous Z-980 outstripped Kodak's estimates by about 20% they decided to do a make-over. However, in my mind the Z-981 has a few flaws. I think deleting the hot shoe was a mistake, and jumping the mp count to 14mp on a small P+S imager is just an invitation to additional image noise. The 26X optical zoom (against the Z-980's 24X) was to come parallel to the optical zoom specs of the Olympus SP-590, and to force the issue with their competition from the Nikon P-90 and the Pentax X-70 cameras. To my mind, it is a questionable "upgrade." Have a great day. Sarah Joyce |

I agree with Sarah. I am not sure this will end up being an upgrade. Time will tell.
