I like everything on my zi8 except one annoying thing that has no reasonable explanation. When shooting at 1080p 30fps there is a frame crop that looks like the image has been zoomed to 40% when shooting at 720p.
I would really like an explanation on why this happens and a possible way to fix it. I even considered to modify the lens by "screwing" it to override the macro mode and get the lens closer to the photosentive plate to gain field of view but I am not sure if this is possible. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas. |

HAve u sorted it out? Just thought about if u have updated the firmware? I know its for the zoom and sound but with some luck it might do something for your problem..
I'm Planning to buy one myself but are annoyed that there is no lenscover. That is a weak spot that wouldnt have cost much to attach. Good luck! |

Its the mm of the lens if its 35mm it will have.................
not looking at the specs 6.3 mm, f/2.8, fixed focus 35 mm equivalent: 61 mm (1080p), 46 mm (720p/60 fps, 720p, WVGA), 42 mm (still) each will have a degree, we cannot change that. they are set.
