I'm still new here and haven't posted much, but I just thought I would share a few recent pictures. I was just playing around over the weekend trying experimental photography with my trusty Z1012. I ended up doing shots of water drops, using my Opteka close-up filters. Sometimes the extreme shallowness of the depth of field lends itself to the picture, and sometimes it doesn't (as you'll see). My action water drop shots suffered from this. But this was pretty much pushing the limits of the camera...at least with my current setup (a few filters, a shaky tripod, no lighting except for the on-camera flash and ambient lighting). I think I need to bite the bullet and step up to a DSLR soon. But I'll never get rid of this trusted friend.

Thanks Sarah! I'd love to see other people's Z1012 macro pictures if they have any.

Thanks! I think that's my favorite too. It was just a "well...I'm out of ideas, so let's put some stuff on the mirror and try using the flash this time to see what we get" type of shot.

I have done some macros with the 1012 (I now have a 980). I bought a Minolta macro lens, which worked out very nicely. Here are a couple of examples I like very much. I did find that I had to be very careful with the focus at such close distance. On the second one the bug is in sharper focus than the flower.

I should mention that I used the Kodak 49 to 55mm lens adapter and the Konica Minolta CL49-200 close up lens. It was very inexpensive. Difficult to find now. Very sharp and clear closeup lens. Screws on to 49mm threads on other lenses. Great alternative to buying a dedicated macro lens. I kept my adapter and the close up lens, just in case Kodak decides to bring out a model that can use them again. Tom

Very nice, Tom. I especially like the rose. I've done a lot of flower macros myself. With spring just around the corner, it will be time for more.
![]() And yeah, when using those close up filters/macro lenses, the depth of field is so shallow, you have to be very selective about what you focus on.
