Hi I just signed up after lurking in the shadows for awhile! I have alot of free time these days so I wanted to start learning more about photography. I have Kodak DX7590 and want to start using someother settings (instead of always using AUTO) and figured I would find good info here.
Here are a couple of pics I took of a "BIG Lion", please tell me what you think of them!! (pics were compressed/cropped using PSPX) |

Yup Its a big lion!
I like the first shot. Looks like flash catchlights in the eyes (looks good) and the shallow depth of field ( makes you take in the entire picture and come to a stop on the sharp face and whiskers). The look on the lions face seems to be sizing you up for dinner but undecided on the proper wine! Keep shooting and sharing! BiLL :| |

The lion looks terrific. The background appears to be a backdrop.

Great shot. Very crisp clean image. I use a DX6490 and have to say after nearly three years of use that outdoors doing landscapes I find the Auto or the P modes to do very well! At night or in lowlight with with longer exposure times I like M mode. When shooting macros I prefer A mode. That's just the way it works best for me. But lots of times I just let the camera have it's way and Auto mode from Kodak does a very nice job. For a quick explanation of the Pasm modes and how to use them you can go here and let ColdSnail give a tutorial! It really is a good PASM tips Page.
