Very few reviews have been done to date as the camera is quite new.
One site stated the the P712 was very noisy at ISO200 and over.

One forum I visited stated that all digitals were "noisy"

This camera replaces my z7590. I don't take all that many low light shots but would like to try some Moon shots, planes landing, freeway traffice from an overpass.

My primary reason for trading up to the P712 is the stronger 12x tele, faster auto focus and capture speeds and the adjustable and larger LCD. Am I in for a big disappointment?

Thanks for any suggestions or comments

I take some of my best moon shots at ISO 80 as that is the lowest ISO available for my DX6490! Most of the shots you mentioned can be accomplished with a 200 ISO or lower! It just takes some planning and practise to find what you can and cannot do with any particular camera and what you yourself find acceptable in noise in a photo! Most if not all digital cameras have some noise problems! That statement is true! There are some programs out there like Noise Ninja that can help with those time when noise shows up in a photo! I dunno if I can tell you to go ahead or not as I have not had the priviledge of using a P712. My jury is still out on it! Go here to look at noise ninja and maybe read and understand noise a little better!
