My Kodak P850 crashes too often, causing
me to lose too many photos.
It mostly happens when I use burst mode,
while it's saving, I take more pics or change settings.
The camera either freezes up, shuts off, or gives me
camera error message. As a result, the pics arent saved
to the card and are lost. I have to take out and put back in
the battery. Is this common in this model? Does it also
happen in the P712?

Either way, I dont like the long cycle time; the time it
takes to save to the card. I thought in the top of the line
Kodaks it might be better than the C330/340 line.

Also, when using the flash, it appears the EVF picks it
up too much, making me see dancing lights if I take more than 3 pics.
I end up using a tripod or the LCD. The EVF _HAS_ to
reduce the light from the flash.

Also, what the [email protected]#$% is wrong with the flower and text scene modes?
They dont focus, and if they do, on the wrong subject.
My C330's macro mode focuses faster and better than the P850.

I am considering getting the P712. But if it has the same issues
as the P850, maybe not.

More complaints... why am I not surprised? But I really wish you would quit comparing it to the C330/340, they are not comparable.

Many folks used to the C330 and C340 stepped up to the P850 and were disappointed that they were not able to use the new camera properly. Just a matter of getting used to it. My suggestion and here I truly mean this...Get a different brand of camera. You just don't seem to get along with a Kodak. I've seen it before...You need to change brands. I'm sure there is a brand you wish you'd bought....Well here is your chance...The opportunity has arrived ...the reason to change is here ...Grasp it like a drowning man holding to a life raft....Change brands and all things will go smoothly I'm sure...All problems will disappear and a bright new day will dawn. Go for it man....We're with you.....

romphotog--- For what it's worth.... I just recently sold my P850 to an employee of my company as I am moving to a DSLR. This person is a novice photographer and I sold the camera in FULL CONFIDENCE that every mode and every function on that camera was working flawlessly. The P850 is an excellent camera in it's class, you just have to know and accept it's limitations. Yeah... try a different brand.

And.... Dang, Dawg.... I think there is a great "inner author" in you trying to escape!

Just out of sheer curiosity... what are you talking about? The evf turns off while you are taking the picture... You can't even see the flash through the evf... So again, I ask, what are you talking about?

I from time to time dabble a little in prose but an author I'll never be Brut. LOLOL

right on homeys.

I guess you all just gots nothing worthwhile to say,
and have no legit answers to my questions.

If the only suggestions is to move to another brand, well
I will do that as maybe thats why Canon and Nikon are so popular.

I guess Kodak will go the way of Konica-Minolta if they put out crap
like the P850.

I have NEVER had a problem w/ my 850.
Have you updated your firmware?
