Here in this first one there is no polorizer effect to see. The clouds are kind of washed out and the blue sky too! The auto mode set the F-stop at F-4 and the shutter speed at 1/500 and the ISO at 80!

In this one I turned the Polorizer 90 degrees and the change in contrast of the clouds is very noticeable! Also the colors are more intense! The auto mode set the F-stop at F-2.8 and the shutter at 1/500 and the ISO at 80! The change in F-stop shows the polorizer is working as some of the light is now blocked from the sensor Thus opening up the arperture by one stop!

Most of the time the best effect from a polorizer is found shooting at 90 degrees to the sun. But somettimes it can be effective shooting almost directly towards the sun. Here the reflections of the leaves in the trees and on the ground get in the way of a good photo!

In this one I rotated the polorizer 90 degrees and eliminated a good bit of the leaf reflections and brought out more of the colors!

I post process myself but still make the original capture with the polorizer when I think it warrants it. Some folks believe it or not don't think it's Kosher to fiddle with it afterwords. Some are just not comfortable post processing their photo's and do not even use manual modes because it is too complicated for them. That's alright as it takes all kinds of folks with all levels of skill and knowledge to make up this hobby of ours. One thing most would do before taking someone elses photo and changing it is ask first or say it will be removed if asked to do so. I myself don't mind and welcome it but some folks think it's rude not to do so!!
