Tracy-
That is a lovely photo of the Rose of Sharon. You first showed it to us as a bud. Thanks for the follow-up. MT |

Now you can add all kinds of plugins to make those photos come alive!! LOL Though if you keep taking photos like that one you won't need them! LOL

It sure does resemble a magnolia, is this a tree or shrub?
I am not yet convinced that this is a "Rose Of Sharon". The Rose Of Sharon is a Hibiscus, and this in no way resembles a Hibiscus to me. I would like to see the foilage when it opens , can you get a shot of that? |

I called this one a Magnolia when I shot it, because it was part of a tree. Then Tracy posted hers and I figured I was incorrect. Anyway, who cares! Its pretty. Mine was taken with a V-530.

Your right MT....about "who cares it's pretty", I think the only reason (which doesnt amount to too awful much) that Iquestioned it, is that I worked at an Arboretumfor 15 years. But I have also been away from the plant world on a daily basis for going on 17 years, so I am a bit rusty. That coupled with the AARP newsletters that they keep sending me....... <---------:blah:.............Wish they (AARP)would leave me alone!
Moral to the story.... I dont know plants anymore. ![]() |

Silver-
Please do not demean, yourself, hon. Anyone who has 17 years of day to day experience with anything, is well worth listening to very closely. I have 32 years experience of flying very large transport jets (read Boeing 747 and L-1011 aircraft), and I have been away from it for some 10 years. But I can still be fairly exact with any evaluation you might desire. We are "family" here on the Kodak forum. Please understand that, Silver. We each bring to this Forum our own expertise. I am proud of mine, and you should be proud of yours. MT |

Thanks MT...Just didnt mean to be sounding like I was making a big deal out of the proper name for the flower. But in my own curiosity I think it sounded that way. Nuff said.
