Correl has a very serviceable Office suite that includes WordPerfect, QuattroPro, a presentation program similar to PowerPoint and some other programs. The last version I used personally was v8 but at the time it would import MS Office files pretty well.In general Correl Office has the same capabilities as MS Office.
The is also an open source office suite called Open Office that has much of the capabilities of MS Office. You can Google Open Office and find their web site for more information and download. It can also import MS Office files and in general write MS Office compatable files. |

http://www.openoffice.org/ If you're looking at strictly word processing (versus an entire office suite), you may also want to take a look at AbiWord. It's got a bit lighter footprint for better performance on challenged hardware. http://www.abisource.com/ |

P.S.
If you also need a replacement for Outlook, give Thunderbird a try. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ If you want a replacement for Micrsoft's software, including Windows, I'd give SimplyMEPIS 6.5.02 a try. http://www.mepis.org Another good Linux distro to try would be PCLinuxOS 2007: http://www.pclinuxos.com Both of those already have loads of good software pre-installed, including Open Office. |
