I noticed on Tiffen's site, as well as Abe's of Maine, a 49 - 58 mm adapter.
Do you think either of these will fit my Z1012? I'd like to experiment with filters as I had w/ my old Pentax K1000. I'd like A. A UV filter for protection. B. A polarizer filter C. A Star Filter. Should these filters work the same way w/ a digital camera? I loved using my filters w/ my old 35mm and if possible, I'd like to play w/ them again. Thanks S |

The lens barrel extends and protrudes whenever it's switched on. So you'd have to leave an extension tube on to carry the filter, and you'd need a long case and a cap to fit the filter if you want to leave it on for protection.
The alternative is to screw an adapter tube on and off each time you use a filter. Otherwise the lens will collide catastrophically with the filter. |

Any idea if something like a star filter would work?

Any sort of a filter should work, but do be careful that you don't zoom the lens with the tube and filter on, or you'll damage the filter and the zoom motor drive!
If you 'edit' the last two editions of your triple post, leaving a single space or a word or two you'll be able to leave them empty. We've all done it! |

Why not just buy the KODAK lens adapter (part # 838 9166) and what ever screw on filter you might like. The lens will not come anywhere near the filter when using the KODAK part and it's 49 to 55mm will give you more filters and lenses to pick from then your going to buy.
Yes a "star" (cross) filter will work and you'll enjoy playing with it. ![]() |
