Followingdiscussions about the

...I'm wondering whether I dare upgrade my
712 firmware from 1.03 to 1.06, in case Kodakhas 'improved' it (cf. XP+SP2 to Vista) towards the 'features' of the Z812. Has anyone done it, and if so, please have you noticed any difference?
I successfully upgraded from 1.00 (or maybe 1.01)to 1.03, and saw no difference at all. The website only mentions v1.06 and says it includes 'zoom level' in 'review' mode and high-temperature performance modifications. There's no clue I can find on what, if anything, was incrementally altered in versions 1,2,3,4 and 5. If anyone knows, please could they point me to a source?
I don't care about zoom indication in review mode (on my v1.03 it can show the focal length in review mode), but I
would like the zoom indicator or focal length to stay put in the live preview. At present a slider appears and then disappears while I'm composing the shot, by which time I've forgotten what it showed. As the zoom control is so coarse, this causes lots of unnecessary zooming to & fro.
