I assume you are refering to the Kodak 14n and NOT the SLR/n. The SLR/n has much better power management than the 14n. I normally get between 500 and 600 raw files on a single charge.

While I do carry a spare battery (don't you?) I usually only need it if I shoot extensively (ie: > 5-600 shots at a single outing).

By the way, pretty much ALL the digital cameras consume a tiny amount of battery power, even when the camera is turned off.

well the bad news is kodak just announced that they have discontinued their Dslr lines completely but will support them through 2008
