I don't know which of the 2 flashes you should get because I don't have an external flash !!

But I heard that the P20 is a very good flash and because its made for the p850 I think you should get this one !!

Taken on kodak website...

The bounce head allows images to have a more natural light affect; the automated zoom gives greater flash coverage; the intelligent flash system can read camera setting information through the hot shoe and react accordingly.

Greetings,

Both are great flashes, Shoot, but the advantage of rhte P20 is its ability to talk to the camera, where the 285 cannot. You can get some pretty interesting flash shots and it is easier with the P20 as it was made for the camera.

Talk to you soon,

I went with the Quantaray QB-SZ370 Flash that I picked up at a local Ritz camera. The main seller was the bounce, zoom, adjustable power, and PRICE. You have to play with it for a while in Manual mode before you get your exposures right, which is a problem you won't have with the P20, so it all depends on your preference. If you don't mind changing your settings manually on both the camera and the flash, then go with the more powerful one, if you want "plug-and-play" then go with the P20.

Rub...I've got a old vivitar thyristor Zoom bounce flash that does a great job with my K1000 film camera and I plan on using it with my soon to be mine K10D DSLR. It is a big flash but it will put some light out there. Familliarity will make using this kind of flash childs play.
