Imaging-Resource.com posted their review of the P712. Overall I think it was a very favorable review of the camera. It did make the Dave's pick list. Here's the link for those interested.

No surprises... good design and feel (ergonomics), good speed, good IS, very good LCD, too many buttons, poor low light performance, OK but less than spectacular picture quality, noisy at higher ISO.

It's funny, they complain about too many buttons and then complain that there aren't enough buttons...

It is also interesting that this review makes a rather large deal about the P-712 being slow to focus, especially in low light at long zoom. That was also my complaint about the P-850. However, after 2 weeks+ of use with the Z-612 I have not found that to be a problem.
