I saw that you have to use a lens adapter to use a tCon with the p880 and I was just wondering why... Does anyone know why you can't get a stepup ring and attach the tcon to the end?

Also, do you have to have the adapter for close up filters too?

Yes, you could, but the adapter takes the stress off the zoom section of the lens. I have both the Kodak P880 and the Kodak 1.4 Tcon with adapter.*Set up for tele shots goes like this: unscrew the front lens ring, screw in the adapter, screw in the tele lens, zoom the lens to full tele, turn on the camera, push the menu button, toggel over to tools, scroll down to "accessory lens", push select, toggel "on" and* exit menu. You can only zoom from about 120mm to 140mm without vineetting.* The total makes about a 200mm lens.*

It seems to me that the adapter would put more stress on the zoom portion of the lens...

Inn-

The lens adapter on the P-880 attached to the fixed camera body, itself, not to the lens barrel that extends and retracts. That is the reason that there is less stress and weight.

Plus, the adaptor positions the Tcon at just the right spot to the main lens. * *Now, if Kodak would just build an adaptor with a rotating tripod mount.
