It's that time of year again when decent law-abiding citizens like yours truly can't get any sleep or privacy on a Sunday morning because these hot air balloon schmucks have descended on the city. It's very disturbing when you are lying in bed and you realize there is a bunch of geeky voyeurs in a huge wicker basket peeking in your window.

So the International Balloon Fiesta is in town for the next couple of weeks which means I'll have to add 45 minutes to my daily commute to work. And highway accidents will increaase 10,000 percent because all the slack-jawed gawkers will be looking up at the sky instead of the road.

But... they ARE kinda pretty.

LMAO, Good shots... hilarious descriptions... Keep it up! Let me know if you see one with a big gold cross that says "Jesus is Lord" on one side and "Bell Aviation" on the other... I see him floating around in his hot air balloon all the time, that could be kind ofcool to see a local from my parts in your pictures.

FB - great photos and wonderful commentary ! I never thought about a balloon festival from a local's point of view. I can only imagine the headaches that must cause. Well, at least it presents some nice photo ops !

Girl friend and I often went away for the weekend to Phillipsburg, NJ just up the road from Bloomsburg which for the weekend was re-named "Ballonsburg".

That was pre D.C. (having Digital Cameras). A real Kodak photo op!

*5mm or less was good for 90% of your shooting (the wider the better when your subject is over 3 stories high).

The hotel we stayed at was a Best Western that was bought by the Boxer Larry Holmes. We met him several times we also met Benni Hanna, Flip Wilson ther a great plce to be (6AM and 6PM lift offs and a carnival feel to the entire weekend.
