I thought I would slip this one in. Another crew member took this of me around 1980. No digital cameras available back then. We were sailing in ice conditions and the Coast Guards Mackinaw is in the background. Andy

Yes thats me Sarah. I sailed on that ship which is the Edward L. Ryerson for 14 seasons. On the Great Lakes a season usually runs between later part of March tell towards the end of January. Three to four feet of ice is not uncommon. I think this picture was taken in April so it probably was not very cold. January sailing becomes hell at times. Andy

Sarah, when I wrote an explanation to that picture at the end I mentioned what January weather could be like on a ship on the great lakes and the term I used sure was'nt heck which sounds dumb but my chose of word must have been unexceptable although I sure never thought of that word as a swear word. But thats okay --I guess you can figure out what I implied. Andy

Ho-no, not for this gal! Wow, that sounds terribly cold.
