Could someone please tell me if we can use any other lens besides that one Kodak sells (the only one) for telefoto.

And if we can, do we need a step up/step down ring?

Hi Tracy. a lot of people here use the Oly tcon17 1.7x and this is the one that i have also. no step up ring is needed it threads onto the adapter tube for the P850 or onto the 55mm filters used also. I have only had it a short time but in do like the results of this telephoto lens it makes some very sharp pictures.

Aytheon-

Does it take that adapter that kodak sells? The one that fits their telefoto lens? How do they compare in price (the lenses)?

Tracy-

I believe the Tcon 1.7X by Olympus also fits the Kodak lens adapter thread of 55mm. They are often listed on ebay where the price can be quite a bit lower.

Hi,
I am using the P712 camera which has I believe the same size lens housing as the P850. You will need the Kodak adapter to mount any of the 55mm filters or the Tcon lenses.
The oly Tcon17 can be had from B&H photo for around $92.00 which is a little cheaper
(less expensive) than the Kodak.
I presently have the lens adapter, the Oly Tcon17 and a Hoya filter kits.
I can tell you that the Tcon17 on top of the 712's 12x zoom gets you up close and personal, the 35mm equivilent fo approx. 745mm telephoto.

Good luck and have fun

That is not the correct lens.

You want the Olympus part no. 200862.
bhphoto has it for $93.00. You will also need the Kodak lense adapter.

Tracy go here and look! This is the one that most everyone is using. The Kodak one is a 1.4x lens and the Olympus one is a 1.7X lens thus the 17 in TCON-17. A great lens that is tried and true!
