I have read in several birding magazines that chickadees can be coqxed to eat from youropen palm holdingseedsif you stay very still.

Thanks Dawg--I think they are my favorite bird because if you see how cheerfull they can be if it should get down around 20 below Farenheit you would understand how easy it is to love these darling birds. Andy

Yes Bill it is true.One way to do it is to have a feeder preferablely with black oil sunflower seed in it and then put some seed in one of your hands and just stand by the feeder with your hand close to where they go on the feeder and sooner or later one is likely to start coming to your hand. I have done it and it works. I consider dee dees semi tame. Andy

In a birding magazine there was a article that told of a guy who made a wooden man (like a scare crow) with one of his flannel shirts and jeans (similar to what he often wears and there was a wooden out stretched palm with seeds that the birds came to accept. After a while he would take the place of the mock human and he was accepted by the birds too.

Yes you could do that Bill but why go to all the trouble of making one of those when you can just go stand next to a sunffower feeder and hold your hand by it with some seed in it unless you are looking for a building project. Andy
