I think I may have just made a mistake. Having read good reviews on the Raynox wide angle lens and ordered one, I then saw a "bargain" priced Raynox DCR 1850 Pro Teleconverter, and took the plunge and bought it. - before noting on Raynox's site that this lens is not designed for cameras with greater than 6x zoom.

Fitted to my P850 (12x zoom), it will not focus when the camera lens is zoomed anything over half way.

Unless anyone can suggest a solution, I will sell this on to someone who can use it.

Does anyone know the mechanics of why one tcon works (eg Olympus) and yet another does not?

A slight mistake! Now I have tried the lens in good daylight (previously tried early evening and quite dark), I have found that the lens does focus.

It is not quite up to the standard of the normal lens though, so I will keep to the original plan and buy the Olympus Tcon 17 as recommended by many in this forum.

OZ...I've heard good things about the Raynox 2020 Pro but not much on the 1850. I do know that the TCON-17 will work with most any lens and give a good 1.7X increase! I think there have been a few...Maybe only a few that have tried and liked the 1850 but they were using the P880 with less zoom range. Best I can do as that is all I know!

Thanks for the reply, and I liked your building work!

Thanks Oz. Just wish I knew more and could help more with the lens problem!
