The History Channel has an animated series called Dogfights that re-enacts actual aerial dogfights experienced by US pilots. The series is narrated and sometimes by the pilot whose account is being shown.

On 12/2/06, the program used the war in Vietnam as the background to show several aerial engagements with MIG 21's by F-4 Phantoms in the North. (89 F-4's were shot down in Vietnam but accounted for the loss of 193 MIG's)

I captured several ‘screen shots' and would like to post several if it is allowed. I am not sure of the legal ramifications of showing frames of a TV series.

Any comments???

PS. The Seattle Post Intelligencer ran an article today from the Associated Press by Sharon Cohen called "Women Warriors invade the Field of Battle." My daughter is in the Army and I am so proud of her and other women who have and are serving in the military.

This wasn't taken from death valley, but it's in the area of the lowest place on earth, the shores of the Dead Sea near the Oasis of En Gedi. That's Masada in the background, elevation up there is 300 feet below sea level. At the shore of the Dead sea it's 1300 feet below sea level. The Dead Sea is loosing 3 feet per year. It's expected to be dry in 15 years. I didn't fly through in a jet, but I did take a cable care to the top of Masada.

bomber1,

Yes, beautiful part of the world. We went further south into Sinai and it gets better. Met an English couple on a Red Sea beach. Asked them if they ever heard of the little English town of Leiston that my Uncle flew P51 Mustangs out of in WWII. He was killed over Germany and there is a memorial plaque in Leiston with his name on it. Always wanted to go there. This English chap promptly told me he lives there. Small world, a New Yorker meeting an Englishmen in Egyptthat lives in the same little town that my Uncle flew out of in 1944.Picture is of TabaBeach, Sinai, Egypt.

I think I owe bomber1 an apology for not stating a new thread to introduce the F-4 frames as a new topic and not intrude on the sea level topic.

I got carried away on the airplane and forgot myself.

Will start thread tomorrow.
