Be careful attaching a heavy lens directly to the lens threads. Hope everything works for you!

I will.

Dpreview forums indicate that the p850 works with the dcr-250.
Schneider-Kreuznach indicate that at least strong single-element macro lenses ('filters', then) tend to make the p880's autofocus go wandering off. We'll see

Got the lins yesterday, results of preliminary tests (direct light by 20w halogen light, no flash)

Macro auto mode ('super close-up'):

Manual focus with the converter lens: (Interesting how I never thought manual focusing would be good for anything, least of all macro shots )

Very narrow(shallow? short?) depth of field (of focus?) seems to be the obligatory case, but I nevertheless hope I can get some closer macros now, at least.
