I took this picture a couple of days ago siting way out on the ice, people do this sort of thing up in this neck of the woods. They cut a hole or holes in the ice--they usually have an ice auger to drill the holes. then they set up the house and usually a couple of people will pull up seats and fish through the holes. they will often have asix pack or two of beeralong. this is part of Duluths harbor area frozen over for winter. On some of our inland lakes you can see dozens of ice houses set up. This picture was taken on a hazy foggy day so its quite drab. andy 74

Ya Dawg, This is actually quite popular with some people here in northern mn. Its never appealed to me but they dress warm for it. There is a lake up here in Mn. that has contests for the best ice house. They install carpeting and heater and refrigerator beds etc. They haul them out on the ice with a pickup truck and leave it there tell spring. Some are pretty elaborate. We have got a strange breed up her Dawg. andy 74

That's also popular here in Michigan though I don't think the lakes have been that frozen yet because of our strange weather, lol. I used to go ice fishing but yikes, way too cold for me! lol
