Your camera also has a flash compensation setting which will alow you to get brighter photos when using a flash! My DX6490 doesn't have that but the DX7440 does. Turn the camera to PASM mode and use the Program setting there. You must be in PASM mode to access some of the menu settings such as ISO and Flash compensation! The Program setting is much the same as Auto mode but it gives you the access to different menu functions that I refered to.
