We have 11 ships laid up here in the port of Duluth and Superior. Part of our port is here in Duluth and part in Superior, Wis. They have been here since mid Jan. They will be leaving around the third week of March when the shipping season starts on the Great Lakes. Now the ships are icebound and when the icebreaker starts opening up the channels there will be a couple of feet of ice by mid March. andy 74

Your right Dawg, it has been cold, this mornings low was 10 below but for Duluth its about normal for this time of year. I sailed on ships on the Great Lakes for many years and retired from it at the end of April of 1993 and I find myself missing it at times but my wife is glad I am home permanately. andy 74

That's what happens around here this time of year as Feb. and March are the two coldest months of the year for us. We sometimes get below zero temps for a day or two and nothing is ever buried deep enough to handle that!
