Just wonder what everyone has for their P850 add-ons. I bought a really cheap set of Opteka lens. One wide angle and one tele. Not the best quality, but they do the job. I thought I'd try these out and then if I decided I wanted to do more I would step up to the Kodak branded lenses.

What about the rest of you?

Cecil

Cecil,

I got a TCon-17 off of ebay for around $58, and all I can say is this is one zooming monster. I took a shot of a playing flying over and you can really see the detail on it and this was not a low plane.

Later...

Dads..The Opteka brand really sucks...I have a close friend that got one of those sets and regretted it almost immediatley. They are not good ones.

For the P850 these will work great...

First the Kodak 1.4X tele-converter.

Then the one I use and the above mentioned friend bought and now loves the Olympus TCON-17 tele-converter....

For wide angle lens these work great with the P850 camera.

First the one I use the Schneider- Kreuznach lens from Kodak!

And the Capable one from Olympus!

Don't be put off by the olympus name..they are proven capable performers that have been tried and tested. The Kodak Schneider lens are as good a quality and were picked to match up with the Kodak digicams. Any one of these will work if you have the lens adapter for your camera. If not go here to get one....

Get this particular adapter for the P series lens. Don't get an off brand one or you will be sorry. They are usually not very good quality ( The off brand ones I mean)

You get what you pay for...If the price is too good to be true then it ain't true guys.. The olympus Tcon is slightly cheaper than the Kodak one and is a 1.7X as opposed to the Kodaks 1.4X But the zoom difference is not worth mentioning! Get either one. Same for the two wide angle lens I've listed...Get either one and they will work fine...

I wind up saying this time after time after time...Don't buy ANYTHING made by OPTEKA> Junk just plain out and out junk!!

How about a macro lens?

I agree the Opteka lenses are not very good. But it was money well spent to see if I would use them at all. The kit I bought came with 3 filters and two tri-pods and cost less than $100. So for the experiement, I think it was worth it.

I found that I really like the wide angle lens. So I'll probably pick up on of the Kodaks for that.

Thanks All!
Cecil

Cecil try this as a starter set. Don't forget that they can be stacked for even more magnification!
