Just bought a Dane-Elec 15 in 1 card reader for $9.99. This thing is awesome!

Had I known of these devices, I would not have bothered to install Kodak's EasyShare, which takes up 54mb. This software is buggier than a public-housing
complex in the south Bronx. It was a bitch to install on Win2k. After numerous un/installs, it finally read the camera. However, it never gave me problems with Win98.

Nevertheless, card readers save battery life, not only on downloading but on deleting the pics as well. And they could be used on any computer (with USB) without having to install the software.

You are "preaching to the choir", my friend. And be careful with that South Bronx talk... I resemble that remark!

Rom...When you get a new computer...and you will one day....get one with the media card reader built in. I did and it is sooo much more convienient than even the card reader. Everyone out there needs that card reader...it is a good deal! The first one I got was a Sandisk brand and sold at Wal-Mart for 19.99. I see the price has come down!

Rom... Here's what I have in my current home PC. Got it from newEgg.com . There are also similar versions that incorporate the floppy drive with the card reader in one unit. Inside the PC you get the option of connecting directly to a USB 2.0 header on your motherboard or connecting it to the internal connector of a USB 2.0 PCI card. I prefer to do it it the second way as it seems to run faster.

Actually, I am perfectly happy with my VIC-20, and only use the Win2k machine
when I am bored and want to have some fun watching it crash.
