I took this picture with a Olympus OMI film camera probobly over 30 years ago. I took it from the ship I was on at the time looking off several miles at another ship.Notice the ships image upside down over the right side up image. I observed many mirages during my years sailing the Great Lakes many of them better then this. Northern Lakes Huron and Michigan and Lake Superior are very cold making for ideal conditions for mirages. andy74

NOAA Coast Pilot #6 Great Lakes has a chapter on mirages that are seen on the Great Lakes. they are quite a site Dawg. andy74

I do not believe the Coast Pilots can be found online Dawg but if you type mirages in search there is lots of info and pictures One is http://www.pixheaven.net/galerie_us.php?id=1 andy74
