Recently I haven't been able to focus my camera on the auto-focus setting. It seems to have been getting worse over the last few months. I have pressed down the button half way, but then it doesn't focus.I have a Kodak P850 that I bought just last year. Is there any fix for this?

Your camera model has some unique focus features, including passive sensors. I've moved this thread down to our Kodak Forum, where other users of your camera model can make suggestions.

I'd probably use the RESET CAMERA option in your setup menus, in case you changed some settings that could be impacting Autofocus. That choice resets all settings back to factory defaults.

Are you sure the lighting is good enough for Autofocus? Indoor lighting can be much dimmer to a camera than it appears to the human eye.

Did you remove any filters that could be causing optical degradation or light loss? If you have any filters, I'd remove them and try it again (filters can cause problems in some cases).

Resetting to factory defaults is a good idea. If you couldpost a couple of examples (with the EXIF data) there might be additional suggestions.

Is this all the time, or just sometimes?

I quite often have trouble finding an autofocus on my Z712.Sometimes I can work out why, if I think hard.Low light is the usual cause, but there's also zooming in a bit too much, or just lack of sufficiently contrasty edges for the mechanism to sense a focus point.

I usually give up quickly now, and focus manually instead, which works well on my camera because you get a magnified image as you adjust the focus. Also, just guessing the distance on the focusscale will often work, as I have lots of depth of field much of the time with our small sensors and lenses.

Good luck!
