hi guys, one person in other forum initiated a petition to Kodak, for letting customers to have more control over picture compression.. he found out, that a firmware can unlock many things, so he made this petition and asks for help of all kodak users.. i signed, and i think if many will sign, kodak will review it, and maybe something positive will come out of it..

Addressing anything to "Kodak Consumer Products Division" will never be seen, thrown in the bit buckek and laughed at.

Dealing with kodak anything via email, phone, online is a flustrating experience of being put on hold, transfered around the globe, hung up upon, and disconnects. Even when you get through to support and technical phone representatives they know little if anything that isnt on the tabs and flash card in fron of them.

I have been dealing with Kodak for two months on another Z812 engineering production and realease serious audio problem with all Z812's purchased, and kodak just doesn't want to listen, acknowledge, or admit there is a problem with the Z812.

Kodak DAI Level II finally forwarded my case #'s, pages of complaints, and sending cameras back and forth, to forward this Z812 audio problem.

The department below would be much better tto send your petition to as you would have a record, receipt, and followlup in reference to your petition.

I will tell you right now your fighting a solid brick wall in suggesting that consumers might have access to or settings that firmware might have control of. Thats like asking Apple to open up the iPhone to open source or consumer written programs for the iPod. It just isn't going to happen. I wish you the best of luck in trying.

Kodak first of all have to put out a product that works without engineering problems as do $30 cassette audio recorders, and their own $79 5MP IS still/video cam, and most all other makes in recording audio.

Here is the address and contact: [just a suggestion] for better results:
