If you bought a USB card reader, you wouldn't even need the cable, for either camera, and could use any software of your choice for any camera. Much of the software from camera manufacturers, including Kodak's, is attempting to lock the naive user into their particular brand. Most laptop even have card reader slots as standard these days.

Many people have had trouble with Easyshare. I took one look at it and rubbed it out. However, the camera with which it came (a Z712 in my case) was excellent.

I found this product to be worth its value completely. For what I am looking to do, this camera is very easy to use and works well with the HD charging dock. I would highly recommend it.
