My camera say's that it's firware version is 1.0300. Is there A newer one or are they all the same right now. My Easyshare software was version 3.1.0.66, but i'm downloading version 3.4 right now. If there is a newer version of the camera's firmware I couldn't find it on their website.

Is the link where I can download current dx6490 firmware (version 1.0300)?

My camera fell down and now after taking photos in daylight there are horizontal stripes in photo. But when I take photos in the dark with flash or video all is Ok. Can this be a fixed with reinstalling the firmware or?

Thanks

Hi

I was on A zdnet review sight and someone said they had version 1.04 of the dx 6490 firmware the link is here and they were saying something about kodak applying a Facet or something, I love the DX 6490 but the compression is pretty noticeable in many of my shots but still is a good cam regardless. The link is http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Kodak_E...-30580680.html

I find the Kodak website a little confusing; looking for something is like trying to find a matched pair of socks in the dark - lots of recursive loops back to where you already looked.

I, too have firmware 1.0300. When I pressed Kodak on the issue their response was:

"Actually, KODAK is on the leading edge of imaging products and as such
we are always working on new and exciting products. In fact, we spend
significant amount of money each year on research and development.

At the same time, however, as with any company, our hard work does not
come to fruition and the public eye until it is thoroughly tested and
ready for sale. For obvious reasons, we can neither confirm nor deny
rumors relating to product development or potential changes to existing
products. If a products, such as you describe, were to be made
available, it would be announced on our website and formally announced &
distributed to dealers, similar to any other new products...."

Personally I would stay away from V4.0 of the Easyshare software. Though it has some nice features, it was buggy on mymachine. For example, it would not burn multi-session CDs, which is essential if you are backingn up photos on a daily basis. When I tried to un-install it, it left program artifacts in my system registry and would not allow me to re-install my earlier version. It took some serious registry exploration to fix the problem - not an experience I would recommend for anyone.

Just my experience, for what it's worth.

Regards,

Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada

Tom.

You should talk to Bill about the Easyshare problems as he can hopefully iron out the problems for the next version.

PM me and I will give you his email address.

All the best.

Paul.

I think they are started to get the message from us that we want some issues updated with our cameras im happy with my DX 6490 but the compression is pretty bad in some pics but nothing major in 4x6 prints. I hope a firmware update comes out soon.
