Depends on your budget too. I recently picked up the DX7440 and have no complaints about it. Currently I don't have the money for the DX7590, if I did, I would consider it

With the DX7440 you still get a good reach with 4x zoom. The lens is a a bit wider too, 33mm compared to 38mm on DX7590, almost 15% wider view...5mm might make a difference, eg; indoor shots, landscapes. Another cool feature the DX7440 has is a 64 seconds shutter speed, it can make for some interesting shots. One last thing I like is the Optical view finder on the DX7440; saves battery power and is fast. The EVF lagged a little on my DX6490 so maybe the DX7590 is better.

Not sure how much the DX7590 is but, I picked up the DX7440 for #389.00 Canadian.

korvus the 7440 is an excellent camera too,,,takes awsum pics..

The 7590 has a new EVF with 311k pixels over its little brother the 6490 which has about 1/2 that,,,,the EVF is now live on the 7590 during burst mode,,,and click to capture is faster now too...there are a lot of improvements on this camera......

If i was looking for a DC now which i will soon,,, then i`d get the 7590,,,or the 7440 depending on zoom requirements.....

I have the 6490,,,,,will likely give it to my wife and get the 7590 after x-mas when the price goes down a bit...

Until then the 6490 takes excellent pics,,,,i`m really pleased with it..

The body on the DX7440 is plastic. However, some plastics are just as tough a metal and lighter as well.

That aside, body construction is important but, a camera is a somewhat sensative device. You are going to want to be careful with it no matter the material its made of.
