Has anyone tried setting this DC's Shutter to above 1/1000 in manual mode. Strangely enough Kodak hotline does not even know about this problem(!!!). Data sheet just mentions 16 seconds to 1/1700 as shutter speed. And this was one of the main factors that influenced my buying decision. Can anyone comment on this !!! Thanks

spinraj....you can only achieve over 1/1000 second shutter speeds in auto modes....in PASM modes you only get to 1/1000 second shutter speeds....

Here`s a shot at 1/1500 second in full auto mode from the DX6490...

Just go the Kodak site. Call up the page for Dx 6490 and under technical data you get to see the info. Here is the link. As I login from Germany, I get automatically diverted to the german site.

Thank you very much brianhare for the information. It is disappointing isn't it. How great it would be to have full shutter control in manual mode. Do u know why it is restricted only to automatic and sport modes.

Finally managed to talk to Kodak hotline in Germany after waiting for ages and running up a telephone bill of 5 euros just to get the info. Next time I'll certainly chack-in with u guys. Thanks again.

Great shot.....Freehand or did u use a tripod.

Disappointing,,well not really,,1/1000 sec is plenty fast i think,,,if the situation calls for a faster shutter speed than that i give the aperature a boost,,gives m more depth of field,,,why don`t they allow higher in Pasm mode is a wonder to me too though...what would be nicer is more frames per second in burst mode though...

No tripod,,,let`s face it,,at 1/1500 second you should really not need a tripod unless you can`t frame the subject the way you like,,definately would be no blurr at that speed....
