What a result for a humble DX6490.

I received this email and am so thrilled, I had to post it.

Dear Paul,

I'm one of editors for Kodak's Picture of the Day -- and I'm writing
to say Congratulations!

"London Eye" has been accepted for Picture of the Day and will
appear December 13, 2004 on the Home Page of kodak.com
http://www.kodak.com
and every few minutes on the Kodak Times Square Gallery
in New York City.

Be sure to tell your friends and family, and keep submitting your
pictures!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Best regards,

Marianna O'Brien

Is anyone at Times Square on the 13th? I would love to see a snap of it.

All the best.

Paul.

Congratulations, Paul! I'm thrilled for you. By the way, that's a fantastic shot. Was the sky really that colour, or it that a cold snail special?

Thank you for all the kind words and I'm honouredto see that Steve has replied as well.

Just to answer Tom.

This is how the shot came from the camera after a 16 second exposure, the pink light through the middle was part of a light display from the other side of the river.I left it alone as it would have looked fake if I had tried to remove it. The reason for such a colourful sky is just down to good old light pollution, which makes London glow from miles away.

Oh, and to Richard.

Out of nearly 19,000 shots taken with this camera, I only really like about 100. The great thing about digital photography is the no cost experiments that I have made with it, if I was using film, I wouldn't have been as bold in the last year.

Now it's time to try again.

Thank you once again.
