:-)Bought a dx7440 and I think it a great camera! I have just about retired my Olympus 2100uz with its 10x optical to the back of the closet.

:sad:I just bought the Kodak Retina2x aux. lens for my 7440 and was very unhappy with its results. Shot in the auto mode (f4 at 1/400 of a sec.) results were blury very little depth of field. I decided f4 was rather wide for a close to 250mm focal length so I took some more pictures at aperture prefered and shut down telephoto lens as much as possible with a shutter speed of 1/125 sec. Results were just as bad. I called Kodak to express my let down in their 2x aux. lens. They said to send some of the pictures for review. I hope its a defect in the aux. lens that they will exchange rather than go back to Amazon for a return/refund.

:?Does anyone have any similar or good experience with this camera / 2x extender?

The Retina 2x extender has proved very satisfactory to me. It is not a 'zoomer' due to vignetting at less than full tele but other than that it is fine. There is an option for auxiliary lens focus which might help (I've never been able to tell much difference). Here is a sample:

Thanks for the reply! I am aware of the fact that the aux. lens is only to extend the lens at its max. focal length. Will send 2 or 3 shots to Kodak later on and send you a good shot without aux. and one at app. perf. shut down later on today or Wed.

Digital regards,

BiLL:-)
