Hi all,

I have just bought a DX7440 and I have noticed that the VIDEO recording time dosen't match the spec in the manual. e.g I have it set to 640 x 480 with 512Mb sd card and the recording time is showing 28minuites instead of 48min 9sec. All the video times seem to be wrong regardless of video settings. The storage capacity for the still pictures is correct. I have formatted the card and wiped the meory clean but it hasn't helped. Anyone else experiencing thisand can someone check this on ther DX7440 for me. Thanks.

Yup, noticed the same problem, although personally it doesnt bother me. Its quite accurate with the image counter , although it can still vary depending on your images' contents etc.

I emailed Kodak this morning. We'll see what they come up with. Just out of interest, is your firmware version 1.0000

Kodak have come back to me and suggested formating the memory card. This hasn't helped and the problem still exists. It would appear that thiscould be a fault with some cameras. Does anyone have a DX7440 which records videos for the correct amount of time? ie as specified in the manual. Thanks.

Can you change the frames-per-second with that camera?

Hi Tom,

Good thought! Unfortunately not. The camera has 2 video resolution modesand the frame rates are fixed @ 24fps (QVGA)& 16fps (VGA). The recording time is wrong in all video modes.

Regards

Rik

Kodak DX7440

256Mb Kingston Elite Pro SD card x 2

Setup video times on LCD screen show:

640x480 14:12 or 320x240 24:58

Specs in manual:

640x480 24:04 or 320x240 27:41

Yes, numbers don't match.

::

Test 1 at 640x480

Quit at 14:29 minutes thinking card must be full. I hadn't checked the camera's paper manual yet.

100_3403.mov 203,422Kbs

::

Test 2 at 640x480

I set thecamera on adeskand left itrecordinguntil it quit.

100_3405.mov 251,959Kbs

The transfer of this video file to my computer was estimated at 66 minutes [Win98se USB1.1] Cancelled transfer at 54 minutes—waste of time. A reboot may have helped speed things up.

The in camera review showed that the 2nd video was 21:04 minutes long.

---end

Yes I did a similar test with a 512Mb card and the video recording stopped at 32min.

640 x 480 on a 512Mb card should have been 48min 9sec.That makes 3 different cameras that don't match the spec so far. 2 in the UK and 1 in Canada. My camera is new (had it for about 12 days). Is there anyone else with this problem?
