My Kodak DC 265 has served me well for five years and 8,000 or so photos. After 400 photos in 4 days at Angkor Wat it refuses to record anymore. It goes through the motions. Everything appears to work. The screen flicks as if an image has been captured but it records nothing. When I go to Review, it flicks once and loses whatever is there but what flicks is black, not an actual image anyway. It then gives me the 'No Pictures in Camera' message. Obviously, a camera this old is not worth the cost of a professional repair but I wonder if anyone knows any tricks I might be able to try to revive my old friend.

If you get to the point where you don't have anything to loose, download and re-install the cameras firmware.

read the instructions/notes first.

Thanks Cobra, that's a good suggestion. I guess I am at that point, unless anyone has a better idea. It's certainly worth a try.

Cheers

We have a DC 260 and after a drop, Kodak sent us a rebuilt unit but it's never been quite right. We went on to take some pictures but it just wasn't reliable. The original was great right up to the point I dropped it

Anyway once you decide to move on before you decide to pawn it off or trash it take a look at what you can do with the camera besides take pictures hehe:

http://digita.mame.net/download.htm- it may not take pictures but it plays old 80's arcade games just fine!

Have fun,
