Help me , please, to solve the problem.

I had my camera DX6490 since September 2004. At this time I had Windows XP Home Edition OS. Everything worked fine i could connect my camera and transfer pictures. In November I have downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 2.Since thenI can't connect my camera. Do u think that may be a problem?Does someone know about updated drivers I can download or may be I can use other software(not Kodak easyshare). Thank you very much in advance.

Maybe a couple of possibilities to try:

1 - invest time - uninstall the Kodak software, reboot, and install it again (and download any updates again)

2 - invest a little money - buy a USB card reader. You remove the picture card from the camera, put it in the reader and (usually) just select the pictures from a removable disk that shows up in Explorer.

Others have pointed out that this transfers pictures faster than downloading them from the camera.

USB Problems after installing SP2 are relatively common.

One solution seems to be removing all USB related hardware and drivers from Device Manager. Then, reboot and let Windows find and reinstall everything again.

Kalypso found that simply updating drivers worked for a printer problem he had:

Thanks for solutions. I think the second investment may work cause first one didn't pay off. I will try..... Cheers!

I have SP2 also and no problems. I actually never even installed my EasyShare software but as soon as i turned my camera on and it was plugged in, my CP recognized it immediatly. Maybe go into Device Manager and look in there. Good luck

An updated USB driver also solved my scanner problem.
