Hi everyone! I'm new to the boards and I'm new to DCs. I've been wrestling with buying one for a little while, especially since my experience has been with manual SLRs. But I've finally bought a DC and as it turns out, I chose the DX7590! It's charging right now, but I can't wait to use it! I know that I will though because I have to download something else--Firmware, right?

Anyway, great to be here!

Hi Magmoor and welcome....You don't need to be in a hurry for the firmware update-it only applies to lowlight focusing( BUT definitely worth doing it) Your camera wil work fine in all other situations so enjoy it!Some folks have had trouble getting the firmware update to install.I suggest you print out the directions and follow them closely. Also be aware there are many fine people here willing to help with questions you may have. The dx6490 is very similar to your7590 and most things that apply to the 6490 will also apply to the 7590.

Thank you so much, Dan! I really appreciate your response. The battery finished charging a little while ago, and I was tinkering with it inside the house, and I see what you mean about the lowlight focus. So I guess tomorrow or later tonight I'll check out Firmware, because right now I'm having too much fun! Thanks again!

Hi magmoor. I just got a DX7590 too. I love it. This is my second Kodak digital. Ialso have a DC4800 (old) and it still works great. Like Dan said follow the directions on the firmware install and you will not have any problems.
