When I first bought my DX6490 I bought a case to go with it,there was room for an extra battery a cleaning cloth and maybe a filter or two.An additional purchase of a wide angle lens (and a Tcon-17 waiting to be shipped) left me carrying things in my coat pockets.I looked at different camera bags and they were too expensive,so I decided to make my own.I bought a regular over the shoulder Nike sports bag,some foam padding from a market stall,and I scrounged some black material from my mum.

First of all I cut the foam block roughly to the width and depth of the bag (I made it slightly larger so it would be a tight fit to hold the camera nice and snug),and marked the outline of my camera and spare lens



then I did a test fitting to see if everything was a snug fit.



then I glued some black material over the foam, sections at a time ,gluing the inside of where the camera and lens fit,letting it dry,then the sides,and so on ,remembering to cut out enough material so it would cover the foam.



when everything was dry I fitted it in place ,




You`ll have to take my word for it that the camera does fit nice and snug,(I couldn`t take a pic I only have 1 camera)It doesn`t look like a camera bag,Its comfortable to carry around and is easily opened to grab the camera.It also has another zip pouch to carry more stuff I put my spare batterys ,filters etc in there)Iwill be making some alterations to it soon when myTcon-17 arrives.

I hope this How-to helps someone and saves them some hard earned ..It did me!!!

Thanks for sharing your idea. Like the Dawg said, you did a nice job..lots of room for stuff and then some...I think maybe a cylinder sized hole in the foam would keep an Icehouse cold for awhile too!
