I got to admitthe Kodak DX7590 has been very fun to use and so far have had no major problem with taking pictures, let alone camera malfunctioning on me. Well, I recently tested out the new Panasonic FZ5 camera and while the pictures have turned out ok, to my surprise the noise level is a bit high (as reported by numerous online expert reviewers). I don't quite understand considering this camera received a lot of strong accolades. The Kodak may be a bit slower in some areas, but I find the results just as great, if not better than the Panasonic. Another flaw I found with this camera is the lack of low-light gain in dark conditions; the Kodak's lcd screen stays relatively bright. Lastly, the IS mode ishelpful I supposehowever they aren't that superior (believe it or not, some of my pics still come out soft and/or slightly blurred). Despite these flaws, the only reason why I would consider changing is that the FZ5 is new and price difference isn't that huge. I paid $402 for the kodak, which includes CA sales tax(too much?). FZ5 is priced anywhere from the low $400 - $499.

You took a look at my pictures. Do you think I would still be better off keeping the Kodak or the FZ just because it has an IS and longer zoom? BTW, are you going to be upgrading to the S2 IS when it comes out?

S2,,,no,,,,,i`m going dslr,,i think,,,,,the pano is a nice camera,,,,but if was going to buy one it would be the FZ20...all these cameras by the way show noise at anything over 100,,,kodak is decent at 200,,,,the pano at the same appears worse.....to small a sensor in these cameras...don`t think i`d shell out the extra for the pano just because of the IS myself.....

Time will tell whether the S2 is any good or not,,i`d wait till it hits the forums to see "real world tests" myself.....

Keep your KODAK and enjoy it,,,,,

Thanks for the reassurance that the DX7590 is a great camera. The Kodak is a keeper. At this point, I don't care so much about the IS; I think I can get by without it.

I hope you and everyone else won't mind me asking for more feedbacks later on.
