Hello all,

I was browsing on a few sites searching for info on lenses and flashes for my DX6490. I came across buydig.com and there were some items recommended.

For the flash, a model from Bower was recommended.
For the lenses there were several brands like Digital Concepts, DKE, etc. A whole range of lenses were recommended for the DX6490.

However, on the Kodak site, there are not so many recommended.

Does anyone have experience with these items or have other recommendations??

Need some advice...
Thanks,

Hi bedde, most of us here have had good luck with sunpak flashes, Bigdawg uses one from vivitar that he really likes. you will need a lens adapter from Kodak to attach filters to. Tiffen, hoya and cokin all sell good filters, at a reasonable price. You will need a UV or skylight and a circular polariser filters to start with. You will also need a flash bracket for your flash unit. Photography isn't a cheap hobby as one accessory leads to another. Here are a couple of links to get you going.

Hope this helps a little

Bob's got it right on all those items. You'll have to make up your own mind on most of them as what suits others may not be what you want! You might wish to look at the things I've managed to gather up here:

Bob, DAWG,

Thanks for the info.

I like the folding flash bracket.
At least I have some idea now.

Thanks again.

The KODAK lens adapter for 55mm filters was one of the first things I considered for my DX6490, it allowed me to attach permanently a UV filter and even if you don't use that filter will protect your lens if your camera (God forbid) fell from your hands.

I've read many people is getting good results with a flash bracket and Sunpack 383 flash, I'm using the bracket with a cheap Metz flash so far I'm satisfied with indoor pics.

At last, using the lens adapter I've had a lot of fun using yellow and orange filters for B&W color mode, in my area Kenko brand filters are easily available you might consider B+W and Tiffen.
