Hello everyone! It is so great to come in here everyday and see your creative minds taking such wonderful pics. My question is,, I own a 6490, and just recently bought a wide angle lens for it, the results of the pics are blurry around the outside. Am I doing something wrong or is it the lens? Keep up the awesome pics everyone!

What lens did you buy?

Are pictures taken without the wide angle lens also blurry?

It is a Digital High Definition 0.5x wideangle lens from Digital Concepts. Ordered it from Sale4sure , Panwebi.com.

Wording this as gently as I can, many people report poor results with lenses branded "Digital Optics," "Sakar," and "Titanium."

If you go up to the Search box at the top of this page and enter "Digital Optics" (in quotation marks), you'll see a number of threads where people ask about the quality, and other people comment on them.

Speaking only for myself, if I can't find example photos taken with lenses sold mail order or via the Internet, I won't buy them... which brings up the next issue -- I bought the Raynox based on many example photos that revealed good, sharp pictures. But it did not work on my DX7630. It works fine on the Fujifilm camera of the person who took it off my hands.

So I think the best option is to buy from a store, where you can mount lenses on the camera, take pictures, and look at the quality. Second best is to buy where you can return if not satisfied -- I bought my Kodak Retinar wide angle from Amazon, but the resulting pictures are so good, I won't be returning it. The Retinar for other models is not so good, and Kodak offers superior Schneider lenses for some models, but for more dollars.

I bought the Kodak Xenar 0.7x Wide Angle Lens from www.colamco.com for about $120. Not to bad I think, Kodak wanted $165 or so. The best thing is that it's made for the 6490/7590.
Here's a few test shots I took just after I got it: http://stevesforums.com/forums/view_...mp;forum_id=18

That one had a circular polorizing filter and a UV filter stacked on before I added the wideangle lens and still no vignetting!
