Thanks Lisa, I came across the background accidently - I use Photo Suite 7 and on exposure there are 3 sliders-- l for dark areas-- l for midtones and -- l for bright areas. By sliding in the dark areas or the midtone areas to "darker" the background gradually went black. Took it in macro, hand held.
